Date: Tuesday 3rd May
Time: 12.30pm – 1.30pm
Venue: Online, via Zoom
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Celine Herweijer, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, HSBC Holdings Limited.
We are delighted and extremely fortunate to have secured Dr. Celine Herweijer, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, HSBC Holdings Limited to discuss “The Green/ESG Agenda: Can banks be the catalyst for change?” Celine is a climate scientist and NASA Fellow by training; she holds a PhD, MPhil and Masters in Climate Modelling and Policy from Columbia University, New York and is a Visiting Senior Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change at the London School of Economics.
Celine will be joined by Professor Martin Siegert, Climate Scientist and Co-Director of the Grantham Institute, who will be taking us through some of the science of climate change alongside the latest IPCC reports. In addition, we will be having a panel discussion with Leila Kamden and Farnam Bidgoli, Head of Climate Risk and Head of ESG Solutions respectively for HSBC, both of whom will be bringing the practical implications of the ESG agenda to life.
If this is an interesting topic to you and you have any specific questions in advance that you would like the panel to discuss on the day, please email project.manager@ukalma.org.uk.
We believe this will be a thought provoking and insightful Masterclass. Further details will follow nearer the time but you can sign up for this event now by using the link below.
Ahead of ALMA’s Masterclass on ESG next week on 3rd May, we at the ALMA ESG Working Group thought it might be helpful to have a look across the major UK firms’ ESG commitments and identify the aspects that would be most relevant as Treasury and ALM functions play their roles in contributing towards meeting these goals. Download the summary of some of our initial observations and thoughts. We hope you find this useful. ALMA is keen to continue our active engagement with Member organisations on these topics.
